Love is bound up in worship: we worship that which we adore. People, events, needs, and desires all clamour for our attention, but Jesus speaks clearly, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.” (Matthew 4:10)

Worship is declaring God's all-surpassing worth. Worship is love, and true love is sacrifice ... but God has already given more to us than He could ever ask from us. “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” (Philippians 2:5-8)

So let us come without fear before the throne of Him who loved us enough to die for us.

Holy Eucharist

We celebrate Holy Eucharist every Sunday of the year. The Eucharist is a direct, spiritual communication with God. In it we offer our thanksgiving to God for all He is and all He has done, and He offers us all of Himself in the bread and the wine, the real presence of the Body and the Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the Eucharist there is, for the believer, healing and wholeness, life and strength, forgiveness and peace.

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23-24)

Special seasonal services

There are many special Sundays throughout the Church year, but at times we celebrate very special events through services held on other days and times. At present these occasions are Christmas and Holy Week.

Because public transport is shut down on Christmas day, our major Christmas celebration is on Christmas Eve. It is a Eucharistic service focusing on the Light of Christ coming into the world.

The week between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday is Holy Week. In this time we solemnly remember the journey Christ made from being acclaimed to being condemned:

Maundy Thursday – a Eucharistic service focusing on Jesus' washing of the disciples' feet
Good Friday – a sombre memorial of Jesus' death on the cross
Easter Vigil – a non-Eucharistic service recalling God's saving acts in history and kindling the new fire in preparation for the next day

Diocese Daily Devotion (online)

Every weekday of the year our own Bishop Jose Elmer Belmonte live-streams a Daily Devotion from the diocesan cathedral in Madrid, Spain.

It follows the liturgy for Morning Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer with a two-pronged emphasis: a reflection on one of the Scripture readings for the day, and corporate prayers for the Church, the world, and specific requests submitted by participants.

You may participate at the time of broadcast, or watch and listen at a later time that is better for you.
